Il client di posta che utilizzeremo per il download delle nostre email sar\u00e0 Fetchmail\u00a0(BerliOS, 2010).<\/p>\n<p>Il servizio di posta elettronica di Google offre diversi modi di accesso alla propria casella, oltre alla consueta Web Mail. Il servizio GMail, ha ben cinque altri metodi di accesso:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>POP3 (Internet Engineering Task Force - IETF, 1996)<\/li>\n<li>IMAP4 (Internet Engineering Task  Force - IETF, 2003)<\/li>\n<li>Notifier\u00a0(Google, 2010)<\/li>\n<li>Google Apps Sync for Microsoft Outlook\u00ae (Google, 2010)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Il metodo di accesso preso in considerazione per lo scopo di quest\u2019articolo \u00e8 il primo, frutteremo quindi il protocollo POP3. GMail supporta unicamente una connessione protetta SSL\u00a0(Wikipedia, 2010).<\/p>\n<h1>Requisiti<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li>Sistema Operativo della famiglia Unix\/Linux\/BSD<\/li>\n<li>Il proprio account GMail deve essere configurato per consentire l\u2019accesso alla casella attraverso il protocollo POP3. E\u2019 possibile verificare le impostazioni del POP3 attraverso il panello: <em>Impostazioni -&gt; Inoltro e POP\/IMAP<\/em> (vedi Figure 1).<\/li>\n<li>OpenSSL Toolkit (OpenSSL Project, 1998)<\/li>\n<li>Fetchmail con il supporto SSL. Per la stesura dell\u2019articolo ho utilizzato il mio fidato <em>Mac Book Pro<\/em>, ecco il motivo per cui compare anche il comando <em>otool<\/em>, l\u2019equivalente del comando <em>ldd<\/em> di Unix\/Linux.<\/p>\n<h1>Recupero dei certificati<\/h1>\n<p>Il prossimo passo richiede il recupero dei certificati utilizzati da GMail, per questo compito utilizzeremo OpenSSL Toolkit. Generalmente i sistemi Unix dedicano una determina locazione del file system come repository dei certificati, solitamente <em>\/usr\/share\/ssl\/certs\/<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Per lo scopo dell\u2019articolo ho deciso d\u2019usare come repository dei certificati la directory <em>certs<\/em> collocata all\u2019interno della propria home directory, quindi: <em>~\/.certs<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Provando a eseguire una connessione a GMail prima del recupero dei certificati, si otterr\u00e0 un errore di verifica del certificato (vedi Listing 2). Nel listato \u00e8 evidenziato l\u2019errore sul lookup del certificato, oltre ad essere evidenziata la cosiddetta <em>Certificate chain<\/em>, in altre parole, la catena di certificazione.<\/p>\n<p>Sempre utilizzando OpenSSL, procediamo con il recupero dei certificati SSL in formato PEM (Privacy Enhanced Mail Certificate)\u00a0(Wikipedia, 2010). I certificati da recuperare sono quelli che fanno parte della <em>Certificate chain<\/em>.
